Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time! Great Movie!

What can I say about this movie? WOW! That’s the best word to describe the movie.
Watch it with my wife to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary, I didn’t realize that we’re watching on the opening day of the movie. I didn’t tell my wife that the movie was from a game and that I’ve played the game before because she would ask me lots of question while watching the movie.
Prince of Persia “The Sands of Time”
Based on a game with the same name, it still keep some of the game element with the realistic touch. It started by showing a bit of history on the Persian empire and I’m not sure whether the history in that movie true or not (very bad in history).
Anyway, this Persian King got a brother and 2 sons. One day he took a street urchin at the marketplace as one of his prince after he saw something about that boy at that time. So he became the 3rd prince of the Persian King and his name is Dastan (acted by Jake Gyllenhaal).
Fifteen years later, the brothers lead the Persia army in an attack on the sacred city of Alamut, under the assumption that the city’s people are selling weapons to their enemies. Prince Dastan without the permission of his elder brother ambushed the city early in the morning before his elder brothers wanted to start their invasion because he are against the attack and do not want to have the serious bloodshed on both party.
While he was attacking the city and the Persian army came in later, he bump into a guy that carries the mystical dagger that can manipulate time using the “Sands of Time”, after fought with that guy, he took the dagger without knowing about the power of the dagger.
Alamut falls to the Persian and Princess Tamina (acted by Gemma Arterton) is captured. After that his father came, his elder brother gave a robe to Dastan to be presented to their father as a gift without knowing that the robe was poisoned and the king died after he put on the robe. So he ran with Princess Tamina and the whole Persian Empire are looking for him for the King’s death.
He accidentally got to know about the dagger’s power when he got into a fight with Princess Tamina that wanted to kill him and take back the dagger. After few times he used the power, then he realized it. The journey started after that.
Later he finds out about his uncle’s plan to change the history. He makes friend with a group of merchant-bandits from the Valley of Slaves that wanted to catch them for the rewards but later helps them to get back the dagger. Prince Dastan’s 2nd brother being killed by assassins (Hassansin) that being sent by their uncle, Nizam and the 1st brother is killed by Nizam himself.
I think I’ve already tell the whole story. I think I better stop until here. Anyway, there’s happy ending and Prince Dastan will get marry to Princess Tamina. Just go and watch the movie.
Summary
The movie was one of the best movie this year so far. Mixture of action, romance and humor makes this movie a very nice movie to watch with your love ones, especially. Not much of smooching and stuff, so it OK. The cast are amazing, Jake Gyllenhaal as my wife would say, very handsome and charming and Gemma Arterton has this sophisticated and charming sweet look. The CG are amazing too, combining with the stunt adapted from the game, it was totally cool. My wife enjoyed the movie and it is hard for her to enjoy a movie that I like.
Go and watch, you won’t regret. I’ll give 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.
Iron Man 2 Review…

Watch Iron Man 2 with my wife recently. Celebrating her birthday.
Anyway, booked a couple seat, 11.30pm show. Was a bit late because we went to Ikea earlier and need to send my brother and aunt back home before heading to Jaya Jusco Bukit Tinggi.
Anyway, I’ll keep it short and simple.
Iron Man 2
It all started with an appearance from Tony Stark in the Iron Man suit to officially launch/open the Stark Expo.
Now he help to maintain world peace with his suit. The palladium in his arc reactor in his chest is slowly killing him and he need to find a new replacement for the palladium. Unable to find the replacement for the palladium and he is dieing, he appointed his former personal assistant/ his girlfriend as the CEO of Stark Industries.
There’s too many conflict in this movie but the story is more towards Tony struggling with himself and the government giving him the pressure to share his technology. So, these people from S.H.I.E.L.D. a secret agency who sent Natalie or her real name in the movie, Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) played by Scarlett Johansson to spy on Tony Stark.
And there’s a guy named Ivan Vanko (the guy with the whip) is seeking for revenge at Tony Stark. He’s not actually bad to my opinion. Very intelligent villain which he later developed few drown that fights Iron Man and War Machine.
As for War Machine, Tony Stark’s best friend Lt. Colonel James Rhodes (played by Don Cheadle a character originally played by Terrence Howard in the first Iron Man movie) took Stark’s Mark II armor for a reason (you need to watch the movie for details) and pass it to the military which is then modified by Tony Stark’s rival weapon manufacturer Justin Hammer.
Anyway, to keep it short, Tony Stark with the “help” of his father and not forgetting his computer J.A.R.V.I.S. managed to create a new element to cure himself and defeat the villain, other robots and become a hero.
Summary
Overall the movie was OK but not as what I expected. I like the ultra portable but not so realistic Iron Man suite that transformed from a briefcase to a suite. There’s too much of thing that’s going on or to understand in such a short time.
Out of 5 stars, I will give 3 stars.
Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief!

Watch the movie last Wednesday night with my brothers. Was wanting to watch before the movie started in cinemas and it was not a disappointing experience. It was worth it. The show started at 11pm but we came a bit late. So it is already started a bit.
Anyway, the movie is about a boy named Percy Jackson (who is a demi-god) who was accused to steal the “Lightning Bolt” of Zeus. At first he didn’t know that he is a demi-god and some of the people around him knows about his origin. His father is Poseidon (the god of the sea) and he is forbidden to see his son.
If you’re familiar with the Greek myth and legends than you can relate to the story easily. You can see hydra, centaur and minotaur. Because these people thought that he is the one who stole the “Lightning Bolt” so he need to be protected as the other creatures try to get the “Lightning Bolt” from him. So his protector and mother send him to a camp for demi-god and alike for his safety.
His mother was captured when they’re on their way to the camp by Hades and he make a bargain which if he give him the “Lightning Bolt” he will get back his mother. So the journey to the underworld started with the help of his protector and a friend they make a quest to the underworld. I think there will be more of Percy Jackson coming in the future.
Summary
It is a great movie to watch with all family members. The cast are great. Not too serious, full with action and comedy.
I will give 4.5 out of 5 stars for this movie. Very entertaining.
Adnan Sempit…

Hmmm… Adnan Sempit….
Watch it yesterday night. I rarely watch Malay movies but this time I feel like I want to watch it because it looks funny in the trailers (or should I call it advertisement?). Just watching the trailer is already funny enough. Told my wife that I want to watch and she is a little surprise.
Anyway, my wife “belanja” me for that movie, so no harms. hehehe… I can’t really give a full review on this movie as it will spoil all the funny parts of the movie (I think I don’t do much of a full review in any of my post).
To summarize it, the movie is about a person named Adnan Sempit (a despatch)… he is called Adnan Sempit (tight/narrow) because of everything in his life is ‘tight’. Shirt, pants and especially money, etc. The actual storyline is about his love affair with a rich girl (his boss) and you can also see his life as a motorcyclist or maybe some people called “rempit” (he is not actually a “rempit” in the movie).
The storyline is predictable but the humor part was funny… especially when Shaheizy Sam (Adnan Sempit) speak with his broken English… a bit of new things, here and there… The cast are great. They know their roles and character very well (in a funny way). My wife told me that it seems like the continuation of the previous Remp-It. I didn’t watch that, so I wouldn’t know.
I think that is all I can say about this movie. Nothing much to review on.
Just go and watch it. Support our local film industry (hmmm… I don’t do much help in that, is it?).
Anyway, I’ll give 3.5 star out of 5 for this movie.

Terminator and Domino’s Pizza

I love Domino’s Pizza more compared to Pizza Hut. I don’t know why… for me, I just love the taste. Anyway, what is Terminator got to do with Domino’s Pizza? Just look at the pizza box below and you will understand what I meant.
Isn’t it cool? These people really knows how to use the new Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation to promote their product. So, “Terminate Your Hunger” with Domino’s Pizza. Feel like want to watch the movie but I’m not sure when. It have been quite sometime since the last time I went to the cinema. I didn’t go to cinema since I got married, around 2 years +. Anyway, there’s always DVD. Huhu… Sorry for the low quality pictures.
