The PIKOM PC Fair 2010 I is coming. Before you start spending your March salary (maybe you already did), I think it is better that you keep aside for PIKOM PC Fair 2010 I. Been waiting for this PC Fair as I was unable to attend the previous PC Fair.

Azad’s 2nd Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my son, Putera Azad Mifdhal. Although it’s nearly a month, here it is. It is late as I have problem with my wireless broadband, so I can’t really update the blog and upload the photos quickly.
Anyway, below are some of the picture during my son’s birthday party.
My son’s birthday was on the 13th March and my wife’s family decided to make a bigger celebration and celebrate it together with few people that their birthday in the month of March.
Have some issue on the cake. Can you imagine that the people from the cake shop didn’t do the cake that we’ve ordered? I’m crazy pissed as we already ordered a week earlier. So they replace us with 2 of their cakes. I think you can guess from which shop we bought the cake. Whatever… It was a great party anyway. Just a small party for relative and very close friends. Thank you all for coming.
Daddy hope that you’ll be a great person when you grow up. All my love to you my son.
Visit To KL International Book Fair 2010!

Went to the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2010 with my wife last Saturday. The book fair was amazing. It was huge.
All the big book publisher was there and there’s lots of great offer as well.
The Journey
We took the train at 11.40 am after more that 30 minutes waiting for it. While waiting for the train, I saw this writing on at the stairs. No wonder people don’t want to take the public transport. I think they need to upgrade it first before campaigning it to the public.
The Book Fair
We reached Putra station around 1 pm. There was lots of bus from some schools and maktab perguruan that was there for the book fair as well. There was 4 main hall plus 1 for Karangkraf and some at the front area that I don’t know what it is called. Anyway, the big publishers that were there, was Karangkraf (just imagine, 1 hall for themselves), Telaga Biru, Utusan and Grolier. I’ve registered as a StormReader member (under Telaga Biru) checkout my e-store.
When we reached there, we’re unsure to which hall that we want to go first so we decided to go to Hall 3. The deals was awesome, you can get up to 30% (if you’re a student) discount. Bought few books from here and continue our journey to Hall 2. In this hall, they have few big publication such as PTS, Grolier and Al-Hidayah. Los Copaque was there too and I took Upin & Ipin’s pictures for my son.

Karangkraf Book Fair
It was nice that Karangkraf have their own hall for themselves. It was super packed. It was crazy… The best about the Karangkraf Hall is that they have their novel writers signing autograph for the fan and even Sheila Rusli was there to sign autograph for her recipe book’s fan. Below are some of the shot that was taken at the Karangkraf Book fair.
Even my wife bought the recipe book written by Sheila Rusli and asked her to sign an autograph.
Summary
The largest book fair that I’ve ever went. It was worth it. If I got more budget for the book fair, for sure I will buy more books.
The only issue that there isn’t much signage to direct people which way or where they should go or move. Sometimes, all of a sudden there’s someone restricting you from walking to certain area which we as a visitor didn’t know about because there’s no signage. Hope that they can improve on that.
Now, have to start reading the books….
Pesta Buku Karangkraf

In conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2010, Karangkraf is having their “Pesta Buku Karangkraf” at Putra World Trade Center.
Yup. All the publication in their group such as Buku Prima, Alaf 21 and Oasis Buku will be there.
There will be lots of activities, great discount on their books, prizes to be won.

Venue: Putra World Trade Center (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur (Dewan Tun Hussein Onn)
Time: Monday to Thursday (10am to 8pm) and Friday to Sunday (10am to 9pm)
That’s more than a week. Hope that I got the time to go there. Going for the hot air balloon fiesta to go. Maybe after that.

Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief!

Watch the movie last Wednesday night with my brothers. Was wanting to watch before the movie started in cinemas and it was not a disappointing experience. It was worth it. The show started at 11pm but we came a bit late. So it is already started a bit.
Anyway, the movie is about a boy named Percy Jackson (who is a demi-god) who was accused to steal the “Lightning Bolt” of Zeus. At first he didn’t know that he is a demi-god and some of the people around him knows about his origin. His father is Poseidon (the god of the sea) and he is forbidden to see his son.
If you’re familiar with the Greek myth and legends than you can relate to the story easily. You can see hydra, centaur and minotaur. Because these people thought that he is the one who stole the “Lightning Bolt” so he need to be protected as the other creatures try to get the “Lightning Bolt” from him. So his protector and mother send him to a camp for demi-god and alike for his safety.
His mother was captured when they’re on their way to the camp by Hades and he make a bargain which if he give him the “Lightning Bolt” he will get back his mother. So the journey to the underworld started with the help of his protector and a friend they make a quest to the underworld. I think there will be more of Percy Jackson coming in the future.
Summary
It is a great movie to watch with all family members. The cast are great. Not too serious, full with action and comedy.
I will give 4.5 out of 5 stars for this movie. Very entertaining.
RFI Bowling Tournament

Last weekend there’s a bowling tournament for my company. It was held at Ole-Ole, Shah Alam. I’ve never join any sport activity (that is if bowling is considered as a sport activity) in any company since none of the companies organize any sport activity. So this is my first time joining a sport type event.

I won a lucky draw and the best part is that my group “Pluto” won the tournament. hahaha… and I have the highest score in the group. Didn’t expect that I can play that well. Here are the moments:

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2010…

This March the Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is back in Putrajaya. It is the 2nd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta held.
The first Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta was held in 2009 and it attracted more than 100,000 visitors through out the 4 days fiesta. Below are some photos of last year’s event:

Date: 18 – 21 March 2010.
Time: 7 am until 9 pm.
Venue: Precinct 2, Putrajaya; adjacent to the Monument Alaf Baru.
There will be 23 numbers of hot air balloon. 18 are the normal shape balloon which 13 of it for free flying and 5 of it for public tethered rides. The other 5 hot air balloons will be special shaped hot air balloons.

Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2010

Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2010 will be here soon. I didn’t have the chance to go to the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2009 but I went to the Bookfest@Malaysia in KLCC and it was huge. To me, to go there for just a day was not enough but I don’t have time to go around. It is a must go for all the book lovers like me. haha… This time they held it in Putra World Trade Center, so I think I might go there by train.
Below are the details of Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2010:
Venue: Putra World Trade Center, Kuala Lumpur.
Date: 19 until 28 March 2010.
Time: Mondays – Thursdays (10 am to 8 pm), Fridays – Sundays (10 am to 9 pm)
For the 29th edition in 2010, 857 exhibition booths have been allocated, making it the biggest in the history of Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair and this year it is acknowledged by the Malaysian Book of Records that this is the “Biggest book fair ever organised in Malaysia“. Organized by The National Book Council of Malaysia (MBKM) and The Malaysian Book Industry Council (MBIM).
Hope that I can make it this year. Come and join this great event.

PIKOM PC Fair 2009 (III)

The last PIKOM PC Fair for year 2009 and I was unable to go. I was sick until the next Monday. I don’t like getting sick during the weekends. I always go to PC Fair although I didn’t buy anything. I like to go just to view what are the latest technology and offer that they have that relates to IT.
So this time I just searched the web for some info on what they have at PC Fair. Amazingly, it is very hard to find any blog or websites that really show or write about it. Anyway, I managed to find few blogs that have lots of pictures and that gave me a bit of info. I hope that I can get more info rather than pictures of the PC babes but I understand most of the blogs that I visited are blogs on photography. Anyway, I would like to thank this blog writer, “demon” from superwhite.cc and skychinstudio.com for the photos that makes me see the view around PC Fair 2009 III… thanks.
I’ve waited for the January’s PC magazine hoping that they will have more info on that PC Fair. Sadly the PC Magazine that I usually buy do not have any news about it, just 1 1/2 pages of PC Babes… so disappointing. Fortunately, I bought CHIP Magazine and there’s a write-up on about the PIKOM PC Fair. So, here I would like to thank CHIP Magazine for the info. Will try to make it for the next PC Fair, in April.
My P1 W1MAX Wireless Broadband Review

Just tested the wireless broadband service of P1 W1MAX at home and my parent’s place.
Thanks to my brother’s friend who willingly let us borrow his modem to test the wireless broadband. He got a RM49 Home Lite package that comes with a WIFI modem as well. The maximum speed for the package is 400kbps which what I think quite slow compared the package that I took for my wireless broadband service.

The best part is that my house (Pandamaran Jaya) is outside their coverage area when I checked in their website for the area coverage.
Anyway, the coverage at my house is only available at certain area which to me it is fine as the modem comes with a WIFI capability and I can still connect to it anywhere in the house. Both places, I’ve got a nearly full speed wireless broadband (to which he subscribed to) and to me it really good.
So should I “potong” my current wireless broadband service provider? Let me think about it. hehehe… My brother definitely will change to P1 W1MAX anytime soon. The one that we’re currently subscribed to is expensive for the speed that we’re currently getting. The speed is nearly the same as P1 W1MAX (check out the review here). The fair usage limit is 4GB and it is quite OK as well.
Will wait for PC Fair this April to see whether they have better offer and I like some freebies…
