At first I thought it is the Avatar: The Last Air Bender but it is not… That movie will be out in 2010.

Anyway, I went to the cinema with my wife, my brothers, my cousin and his friend. My brother only managed to get the side seat. It has been years that I seat at the side in cinemas.

Back to the movie…

It started out quite fast with the hero (Sam Worthington as Jack Sully – the one that acted in Terminator Salvation as Marcus) in space going to a planet called “Pandora”. The humans are doing some mining activities and there are these people called the Na’vi which are the local species of the planet. As usual, human want something from that planet and the riches area of that substance on that planet is where all these Na’vi are living.

The Avatar is actually a replica or a clone of the Na’vi species made from the gene of human and Na’vi. So there will be these Avatar pilot which will control these clones using their mind and try to mingle with the native species to gain their trust and persuade them to move from their home so called “peacefully”. The leading Avatar pilot is played by Sigourney Weaver (the lady that acted in Alien…) as Dr. Grace. She and her team will teach Jack Sully more about the Na’vi as he knows nothing about the Na’vi before he took the job.

It was quite a touchy movie… Check out the trailer…

I think that would be enough as you should watch it by yourself to know the ending of the movie. A hint: At the end the hero became part of the Na’vi family.

Summary

Overall the movie was great. The CGI was amazing and the cast was superb. It was a little violent in some scenes maybe to make it much more realistic. I heard they have it in 3D too. Might not be able to watch that.

I’ll give 4 star our of 5.

This month, it is quite a record since the last time that I remembered watching 2 movies in 1 month. Sherlock Holmes was amazing too.
